In a significant development, the UP government has recently granted financial assistance of INR 10 Cr to 11 hospitals across the state.
This funding includes the establishment of dialysis units and blood banks at Lok Bandhu Raj Narayan Hospital in Lucknow, Varanasi and Gorakhpur. This decision aligns with the government’s aim to enhance healthcare facilities in the state.
The allocated finances are focussed on several key areas, encompassing infrastructure development, the setup of dialysis units, and blood banks, procurement of furniture and equipment, and the installation of fire-fighting systems.
Moreover, these hospitals will have four-bed units for dialysis. Additionally, blood banks will be set up in each of these hospitals in collaboration with Rotary International, a global non-profit organisation that operates in over 200 countries across the world.
Sharing his views, Brajesh Pathak, Deputy CM and Health Minister, UP, said, "The state government is committed to providing better healthcare facilities to the people of the state. He urged doctors to provide quality healthcare to patients with dedication and honesty."
Talking about the finances, a grant of INR 3.2 Cr has been released to the Agra Mental Health Hospital and Modernisation of the District Men's Hospital in Orai-Jalaun. Moreover, an additional INR 80 lakh has been granted for the purchase of furniture and equipment.
Further, INR 4.6 lakh has been allotted to the pathology department on the premises of Allahabad High Court for the installation of an automatic biochemistry analyser machine. While INR 88 lakh grant was for the installation of two lifts at the Ursula Memorial Hospital in Kanpur.
Additionally, the government sanctioned INR 44 Lakh to Basti's District Women's Hospital and INR 2.1 Cr to Balrampur's Memorial District Hospital for equipment and furniture.
Among others, financial approval of INR 2 Cr has been sanctioned for the installation of a fire fighting system and fire alarm in the administrative building of Maharani Lakshmi Bai Medical College, Jhansi.
In a similar development, the UP govt has recently set a new record with 6.63 Lakh Ayushman Card issues in a single day. Official figures indicate that the total number of beneficiaries under this scheme in UP stands at approximately 7.56 Cr. So far, over 3.62 Cr beneficiaries have been issued Ayushman cards.
Just days back, the Uttar Pradesh Council of Science and Technology (UPCST) approved a record-breaking 109 research proposals, with a total expenditure of INR 1,409 Lakh. This initiative sought to develop an AI-based, IoT-operated electric wheelchair with helmet control for differently-abled individuals.
