Made 6.63 Lakh cards, hearty congratulations, and best wishes to all the health workers associated with the scheme."
The Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) has been in operation for the past five years, but there has been a significant surge in the issuance of new Ayushman cards recently.
More than 65 Lakh people applied for these cards in the last 21 days, starting September 17th. Out of these applicants, over 54 Lakh individuals have already received their new cards after completing the verification process.
Official figures indicate that the total number of beneficiaries under this scheme in Uttar Pradesh stands at approximately 7.56 Cr. So far, over 3.62 Cr beneficiaries have been issued Ayushman cards.
Currently, Uttar Pradesh holds the second position in the country in issuing Ayushman cards to beneficiaries, with Madhya Pradesh leading the way with 3.69 Cr beneficiaries. However, the recent trend suggests that Uttar Pradesh may soon become the leading state issuing the highest number of Ayushman cards.
Chhattisgarh holds the third position nationally, with a total of 2.03 Cr beneficiaries having received Ayushman cards. At the national level, the scheme has issued approximately 25 Cr Ayushman cards over the past five years.
During the Ayushman Samvad event, Union Minister of State for Health, Prof SP Singh Baghel, celebrated the program's success in issuing nearly 25 Cr Ayushman cards, crediting the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sangeeta Singh, CEO of the State Agency for Comprehensive Health and Integrated Services (SACHIS), highlighted the convenience of obtaining an Ayushman card through online services. Beneficiaries can now apply for a new card online through the website https://beneficiary.nha.gov.in from the comfort of their homes.
Furthermore, the National Health Authority (NHA) has included data on families with members aged 60 years and older as beneficiaries of the AB-PMJAY.
Uttar Pradesh has approximately 11.04 Lakh such families, and the Medical and Health Department has instructed all district magistrates to create Ayushman cards for these eligible families.
The AB-PMJAY continues to make significant strides in providing healthcare coverage to millions of beneficiaries nationwide, ensuring access to essential medical services and reducing the financial burden on individuals and families.
