The newly added feature will allow users to easily keep track of both their prescription and over-the-counter medications and provide important, relevant information and tips about these medications.

Samsung has launched a new medication tracking feature to its existing health app that will help users manage their health more comprehensively.

The newly added feature will allow users to easily keep track of their prescription and over-the-counter medications and provide important, relevant information and tips about these medications.

Furthermore, it includes insights into adverse reactions that may arise due to drug-to-drug interactions or when taken in conjunction with specific food items and substances such as caffeine and alcohol.

Reportedly, the feature will first be available in the US via the app updates rolling out later this week.

Expressing his thoughts, Hon Pak, VP and Head, Digital Health Team, MX Business, Samsung Electronics, said “With the addition of the new Medications tracking feature, we believe users will be able to more conveniently manage their medications, improve adherence and ultimately maintain better health overall, "

Further, users can both set up alerts that remind them when to take their medications. In instances of crucial medications, users can set a “strong” reminder that will display a full-screen alert on their smartphone accompanied by a long tone. Conversely, for supplements including vitamins, a simple pop-up reminder will appear that will not disturb the user.

Additionally, Galaxy Watch users will also receive reminders right on their wrist so they can stay on top of their medication schedules, even when away from their phones, the company said.

The Samsung Health app provides a range of advanced health offerings spanning sleep management, mindfulness programmes and irregular heart rhythm detection capabilities.

Launched in 2012, Samsung Health is a health and fitness application developed by Samsung Electronics. It aims to provide users with valuable insights into their health and wellness. Further, it tracks activity data with significant health impacts, helping users gain insight into their well-being.

Earlier, Samsung Health partnered with b.well to offer personalised healthcare on smartphones. This strategic move enables Samsung Health users to create a longitudinal health record, receive proactive health insights, and conveniently access care from a growing network of trusted providers, all through a single secure application on Galaxy smartphones.

In some other related development, US-based Vitalchat integrated inpatient telehealth with Samsung Healthcare TVs. This collaboration aims to deliver a more informed, comfortable and personalised patient care ecosystem by offering high-quality audio and video communication between patients and healthcare providers.
