The FreeStyle LibreLink app aims to simplify diabetes management, offering a streamlined approach and advanced technology to empower users to make informed health decisions.

Abbott has introduced FreeStyle LibreLink app in India, offering users of the FreeStyle Libre glucose monitoring system the convenience of checking readings on their mobile phones without the need for finger pricking.

The app, compatible with both iPhone and Android smartphones, provides real-time glucose data and enables accessible information sharing with healthcare providers.

As per the company, utilising near-field communication (NFC) technology, the app transfers glucose data from the sensor to the mobile device. This allows users to monitor their eight-hour glucose history and real-time patterns, facilitating better management of diet, insulin use, medication, and exercise—all without the necessity of a separate reader for glucose monitoring.

"People living with diabetes experience significant burden as they face a multitude of tasks to effectively manage their diabetes. FreeStyle LibreLink app seamlessly integrates with FreeStyle Libre sensor. At Abbott, we are committed to ensuring our FreeStyle Libre technology not only simplifies the daily routines for people living with diabetes but also empowers them to manage their diabetes more effectively," said Kalyan Sattaru, general manager of Abbott's Diabetes Care Business in South Asia.

Dr Manoj Chawla, a senior diabetologist, highlighted the significance of receiving real-time glucose information for easier diabetes management. He noted that new diabetes technology, such as the FreeStyle LibreLink app, is a step towards precise and informed decision-making for individuals with diabetes and their caregivers.

The FreeStyle LibreLink app aims to alleviate the burden faced by people living with diabetes, offering a streamlined approach to diabetes management. The integration of advanced technology promises to not only simplify daily tasks but also provide users with the tools to make informed decisions about their health.
