Zydus Hospitals and Medtronic have joined forces to establish Gujarat's first indigenous AI-based Stroke Care Network. This partnership aims to improve the diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients in the region by leveraging AI technology and providing education and training to doctors in remote hospitals.
India witnesses approximately 1.8 million stroke cases each year, with patients in urban areas having better access to healthcare than those in rural settings. The collaboration addresses this disparity by implementing a hub and spoke system, where AI technology is used to interpret CT scans for stroke diagnosis. Zydus Hospitals' expert teams will review scans from remote hospitals, providing guidance to local physicians for patient management.
The launch of peripheral stroke centers through this partnership enables quick detection and treatment, enhancing stroke patients' survivability. Medtronic India is committed to developing technologies that empower patients to manage their conditions effectively. By integrating technology and addressing local healthcare barriers, Medtronic aims to transform stroke care across India.
The importance of timely AI-based diagnosis is highlighted, even in remote areas where access to specialist hospitals is limited. Early intervention within the first crucial hours of stroke occurrence is emphasized. Managing risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and smoking is crucial in stroke prevention.
The establishment of a network of remote stroke centers through this partnership will bridge the stroke care gap. Prompt removal of brain blockages is essential in stroke treatment, and AI-driven technology expedites critical patient diagnosis and treatment decisions.
Zydus Hospitals and Medtronic's collaborative efforts seek to revolutionize stroke care in Gujarat by leveraging AI technology and expertise, ultimately improving patient outcomes and reducing stroke-related disabilities.
