In observance of World Arthritis Day, Wockhardt Hospitals, Mumbai Central has unveiled the Stryker Mako Robot, technology for hip and knee replacements, making them the exclusive provider in the region.
With this launch, Wockhardt Hospitals aims to perform knee and joint surgeries using the world-class Stryker Mako Robotic-arm assisted surgical system.
The newly launched technology ensures safety and precision in knee and hip replacement surgery. It further ensures precise bone cuts while safeguarding healthy bone and soft tissue.
Additionally, it includes an Accustop haptic feedback technology which ensures that the surgeon remains within the virtual boundaries, enabling accurate bone cuts, implant positioning, and soft tissue preservation.
Reportedly, with this technology, patients experience less post-operative pain, speedy recovery, shorter hospital stays, minimal blood loss, and smaller scars.
During the launch event, Dr Collopy and his team conducted joint replacement surgeries for two patients with Mako Robotic arm-assisted surgery system for the first time in South Mumbai.

In another significant instance, IIT-Guwahati developed a new AI model that can predict the severity of knee osteoarthritis by analysing X-ray images. This development benefits doctors to diagnose and treat the disease more accurately and efficiently.
