Wipro’s R&D team will design and develop an AI that will take into account an individual’s health history, desired health state, and other behavioral responses.
IT giant Wipro has collaborated with the Center for Brain Research (CBR), an autonomous, non-profit research organization, hosted at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc).
This partnership will focus on leveraging AI, ML, and big data analytics to develop new technologies that will provide precision support towards the prevention and management of long-term health disorders.
Further, Wipro’s R&D team, part of Lab45, will design and develop a personal care engine – an AI that will take into account an individual’s health history, desired health state, and other behavioral responses.
This includes promoting healthy aging, positive lifestyle changes, and psycho-social well-being to improve an individual’s health over time.
Sharing thoughts, Subha Tatavarti, CTO, Wipro, said, “Wipro is committed to transforming the landscape of healthcare through technological innovation, and we are delighted to be partnering with the CBR and IISc on this journey. Our personal care engine enables wide-ranging applications and benefits for health management. It has the potential to mitigate lifestyle-related conditions and even enhance cognitive and psychosocial functioning.”
Reportedly, the personal care engine will focus on reducing and managing the risk of cardiovascular disease and correlated neurodegenerative disorders, by using AI to personalize its interaction with users, optimizing for their long-term health and wellbeing.
Additionally, Wipro will test the engine through a digital app-based trial in collaboration with CBR at IISc, which will generate evidence regarding the engine’s effectiveness for contexts that are deeply relevant for long-term health outcomes.
On the partnership, Dr Ajay Chander, head, R&D, Wipro, said, “Our collaboration with CBR will pioneer solutions at the intersection of computing and cognitive sciences, bringing scalable personalized care support for some of the most chronic health challenges globally.’’
He further added that cardiovascular conditions are a particular focus for Wipro, because of their strong association with long-term cognitive issues and the potential for broad health and wellbeing benefits at lower costs.
Further emphasizing the importance of this partnership, prof KVS Hari, director, the Centre for Brain Research, said, “Working with Wipro allows us to amplify our scientific expertise through large-scale digital applications. This partnership will accelerate the path from research to real-world solutions in cognitive and overall health.”
Wipro's recent initiatives in the healthcare sector involve transforming the contact center experience through generative, speech, and translation AI.
Recently, Wipro GE Healthcare signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to drive healthcare innovation and technology development in India.
This collaboration aims to co-develop solutions, validate technologies, and facilitate local manufacturing to expedite the introduction of innovative healthcare solutions into the market.
The impending launch of the Bagchi-Parthasarathy Hospital & IISc Medical School is anticipated to translate these advancements from laboratory to bedside, addressing critical healthcare needs comprehensively.
In November, the Bengaluru-based IT giant, joined forces with NVIDIA to expedite the integration of gen AI in healthcare.
This collaboration aims to leverage AI-driven strategies, products, and services to enhance Wipro's healthcare solutions, particularly in the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Medicare, and Medicaid domains. The partnership sought to harness the power of NVIDIA AI Enterprise software to optimize AI production across Wipro's healthcare portfolio.
