Walmart Health and Orlando Health have aligned their efforts to streamline the patient journey, ensuring seamless transitions of care and effective communication between Walmart Health centres and Orlando Health providers.

Walmart Health, a US-based healthcare provider, has partnered with Orlando Health, a not-for-profit hospital network, to enhance patient care coordination in Florida.

The primary objective of this collaboration is to improve patient referrals, care coordination, and engagement.

Walmart Health and Orlando Health have aligned their efforts to streamline the patient journey, ensuring seamless transitions of care and effective communication between Walmart Health centres and Orlando Health providers.

Eric Prochnow, a senior director of clinical network partnerships at Walmart, said, “Value-based outcomes are a community effort, and it is a natural evolution to work closely with other providers in the community that have shared goals. With Orlando Health as a partner, we look forward to offering a more streamlined service for our Orlando-area Walmart Health patients in support of community wellness.”

Walmart Health has been steadily expanding its presence in Florida, adding 17 new health centres across the state this year, bringing the total to 23.

Walmart Health, initially launched in 2019, offers a wide range of healthcare services, including primary care, labs, X-ray, EKG, behavioural health, dental, select specialty services, and community health under one roof.

With 48 locations across several states, Walmart is committed to becoming a significant player in healthcare. Their plan includes nearly doubling the number of health clinics by the end of 2024 and expanding to new states and existing markets.

Commenting on the same, Cary D’Ortona, senior vice president at Orlando Health, said, “By collaborating with Walmart Health and focusing on care coordination in the shared patient populations, we’ll be better positioned to more quickly identify patient needs and improve outcomes together in the Orlando area.”

Additionally, Walmart Health is also extending its online primary care benefits in partnership with Included Health. This includes virtual care options for digestive health, physical therapy, and basic at-home lab work.

Also, Walmart Health has partnered with Ambetter from Sunshine Health, which is operated by Centene and offers insurance through the Florida health insurance marketplace.

Walmart Health Centers are now included as preferred providers in several Florida counties through this partnership, focusing on patient engagement, care coordination, and referral management.
