Using Latest Technology Should be Priority for Institutes like AIIMS Rishikesh: President Murmu

In a recent address at the 4th convocation of AIIMS Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, President Murmu also emphasized the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics.

President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday said that using the latest technology in the interest of society should be the priority of institutions such as AIIMS Rishikesh.

In a recent address at the 4th convocation of AIIMS Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, President Murmu also emphasized the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics. The President noted that these will continue to increase in the field of diagnostics and treatment.

Murmu further hoped that these changes would be increasingly put to efficient use by AIIMS Rishikesh. She also applauded AIIMS Rishikesh for striving to move forward in the field of CAR T-cell therapy and Stem Cell Research.

President Murmu praised AIIMS for its top-tier medical education and service provision. President said that providing world-class education and service in medicine is the national achievement of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

"All the AIIMS are recognized for providing the best and most affordable treatment. Many AIIMS are being established in different parts of the country with the objective that more and more people can benefit and more meritorious students can get an education in AIIMS," she noted.

Moreover, she stated that even in this era of global medicine, researching and solving national, regional, and local problems related to medicine should be the priority of institutions such as AIIMS Rishikesh.

Additionally, President Murmu urged AIIMS Rishikesh to pay maximum attention to public health and community engagement. Doing this, she noted, the institute will be able to contribute towards building a healthy India and a developed India.

Highlighting that more than 60% of students at AIIMS Rishikesh are female students, the President said that the increasing participation of women in areas ranging from policy making to tertiary healthcare presents a picture of a huge and positive social change.

During the convocation, 598 students were conferred degrees, with exceptional students receiving 16 medals, including 14 gold medals. Following the ceremony, the President took part in the serene Ganga Aarti at Parmarth Niketan’s Ganga Ghat.
