Elation Health has launched an AI-powered scribing tool, Note Assist, tailored specifically for primary care physicians.
This new tool, integrated directly into the company's electronic health record (EHR) platform, aims to streamline clinical documentation, a significant pain point for doctors.
Elation Health, founded in 2010, has a history of developing technology tailored to the needs of primary care clinicians.
Its latest innovation, Note Assist, is embedded within its EHR system, enabling the tool to automatically generate structured notes from physician-patient interactions.
This approach is intended to fit into existing workflows, saving time and improving the quality of patient care.
“We're bringing to market an opportunity to really make physicians' lives easier, reduce documentation burden, and do so in a way that's incredibly well integrated into existing workflows,” stated Kyna Fong, CEO of Elation Health.
Note Assist distinguishes itself from other AI scribing tools by being natively built into the EHR rather than added as a third-party solution.
This integration allows it to leverage the full context of patient charts and physician preferences, making it a more efficient tool for clinicians.
Unlike many EHRs that were originally designed with billing in mind, Elation’s platform is focused on patient encounters, which enhances the functionality of the AI tool.
The tool continuously updates clinical notes throughout a patient visit, drawing from both the context of the visit and pre-existing note templates that physicians commonly use.
This functionality allows clinicians to save time on documentation while ensuring that all relevant patient information is accurately captured in real-time.
Fong highlighted the benefits of this integrated approach, noting that "the native templates that are in the EHR are usually a heavily relied-upon tool by physicians, not only to kind of shortcut the documentation they have to do, but they actually use it as an outline of the agenda that they're setting with their patient."
Early adopters of Note Assist have reported significant improvements in their practice. A survey conducted by Elation Health revealed that clinicians using the tool saved an average of 13 minutes per visit.
Additionally, 87% of surveyed physicians noted that the tool helped them provide better patient care and reduced feelings of burnout.
One primary care physician in Texas shared their experience, stating, “Note Assist has reduced my documentation time by approximately 40%. Completing notes requires minimal effort now.”
Another user, Dr Michelle M Davis from Louisiana, remarked, “Elation Note Assist has transformed my practice. It accurately and concisely summarizes patient conversations, allowing me to relax and maintain face-to-face interaction during visits. This technology is a game-changer—I use it with every visit.”
The tool’s ability to streamline documentation without disrupting the patient-physician relationship is a critical advantage, particularly in primary care settings where clinician burnout is a growing concern.
