This expansion includes notable centers such as Bedford-Stuyvesant Family Health Center in New York and Moses Lake Community Health Center in Wisconsin.

US-based Artera, a company specializing in healthcare communication, has announced new partnerships with over a dozen federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) across the United States.

This expansion includes notable centers such as Bedford-Stuyvesant Family Health Center in New York and Moses Lake Community Health Center in Wisconsin.

Artera’s communications solution aims to streamline patient interactions and improve engagement through direct messaging and consolidated notifications.

Streamlining Patient Communication

Artera’s solution integrates with clinicians' phone numbers, allowing direct messaging between patients and their care teams.

The platform is designed to reduce communication overload by consolidating notifications from various sources into a single, relevant message for the patient.

Explaining the system’s core functionality, Guillaume de Zwirek, the founder and CEO, Artera, said, “Basic communication is that your doctor should be a saved contact in your address book. You should be able to text them or call them about anything. You should get a response within three minutes. We should also automate all the low-value work to provide leverage to staff. If you want to know the address, that should be automated."

De Zwirek highlighted the solution’s suitability for community clinics, which often serve underserved populations.

“…Someone's going to remind you of your appointment, you're going to get referred to a pharmacy… you might have to join a telehealth visit. Every single one of those apps will need to communicate with you. They will either email you, call you, or text you. That is horrible. It's horrible for the patient. It's horrible for the hospital,” he added.

Supporting Local Resources & Campaigns

Artera’s platform also aids FQHCs in connecting patients with local resources. This includes identifying patients eligible for food benefits or coordinating winter coat distributions.

Additionally, the platform provides template models to assist health centers in rolling out vaccination campaigns and Medicaid redetermination information.

“We also give them templates that have worked for other FQHCs, so they don't have to reinvent the wheel.,” Dr Zwirek noted.

Artera’s service supports over 800 providers nationwide, including over 250 FQHCs. Integrating communications in over 109 languages helps improve patient attendance and operational efficiency, potentially increasing the centers’ capacity and financial stability.

Vanessa Huerta, associate director of operations at Livingston Community Health, noted the impact of Artera’s platform.

She said, “Artera has become a natural extension of our team and work. Artera’s reliable patient communications platform and its ability to quickly tailor messaging to our patient population have not only elevated our patient experience with seamless, digital patient communications but also helped our team deliver the personalized care our patients deserve.”

Artera's approach aims to enhance the patient experience by ensuring timely, relevant communication and streamlining administrative tasks for healthcare providers.
