The ABDM data indicates that in the past two years, approximately 4.7 Cr online OPD registrations were made through the Scan and Share service under NHA.
Uttar Pradesh has recorded over 4.7 Cr online Outpatient Department (OPD) registrations, the highest among all states, according to data from the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, referencing the data, stated that government hospitals in Uttar Pradesh are providing high-quality health services, including free medicines and treatment.
"This is why UP ranks number one in OPD registrations across the country," Pathak said.
The ABDM data indicates that in the past two years, approximately 4.7 Cr online OPD registrations were made through the Scan and Share service under the National Health Authority (NHA).
Of these, 1.24 Cr OPD tokens were issued in Uttar Pradesh alone. In comparison, states such as Tamil Nadu and Kerala issued fewer than 10,000 OPD registration tokens through this service.
Pathak, who also holds the health and family welfare portfolios, highlighted that out of the 25 hospitals with the highest online OPD registrations in India, 15 are located in Uttar Pradesh, followed by five in Andhra Pradesh.
Following Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh has the second-highest number of online OPD registrations, with 81 Lakh patients obtaining online tokens for OPD treatment. Bihar is third with 57 Lakh tokens issued.
The data further shows that Tamil Nadu ranks at the bottom of the list, with only 949 online OPD registration tokens issued.
Himachal Pradesh follows with 1,365 tokens, while Goa and Kerala have recorded 2,381 and 7,983 online OPD registrations, respectively.
Despite these variations, the scan and share service has emerged as a valuable tool for patients, allowing them to scan QR codes at OPD registration counters and instantly generate their Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) number, thus bypassing long queues and reducing waiting times.
Emphasizing the government's commitment to providing high-quality health services, Pathak noted, "Providing quality services to patients and their caretakers is our top priority
Launched in October 2022 under the ABDM, this service has changed the patient registration process, particularly benefiting vulnerable groups such as the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with mobility challenges.
The ABHA-based Scan and Share service allows patients to register for OPD appointments by scanning a QR code displayed at the OPD registration counter and instantly sharing their ABHA profile for registration.
This paperless system removes the need to wait in long queues for appointments, making the patient experience more efficient.
The Scan and Share service is now used across over 8,270 healthcare facilities in 579 districts across 35 states and Union Territories of India.
Additionally, the service is available in more than 5,875 public and 2,845 private healthcare facilities, showing broad adoption across the healthcare sector.
