Digitization has seen tremendous growth in India, with Uttar Pradesh emerging as a leader in leveraging technology for large-scale events.

Ahead of the MahaKumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, the state government has introduced extensive digital tools to enhance pilgrim safety and convenience.

A dedicated website, a multilingual app, and an AI-powered chatbot in 11 languages will provide real-time information, while QR-based passes for vehicles and people will streamline movement.

Additional digital initiatives include a multilingual lost-and-found center, ICT-based monitoring for cleanliness and infrastructure, and live software for tracking 530 ongoing projects. Drone-based surveillance and disaster management are also part of the comprehensive preparations.

The Uttar Pradesh government is also integrating MahaKumbh facilities with Google Maps to assist pilgrims in navigation. RFID wristbands, GPS tracking through a mobile app (with consent), and AI-based search cameras will count and manage the expected 450 million attendees.

Addressing Pilgrim’s Healthcare Needs

To address healthcare needs, the government is establishing one 100-bed hospital, two 20-bed facilities, and small 8-bed hospitals in the Mela area. Two 10-bed ICUs will be managed by the Army Hospital, ensuring 24/7 care.

A total of 291 MBBS doctors and specialists, 90 Ayurvedic and Unani practitioners, and 182 nursing staff will be deployed. Facilities will include separate wards for men, women, and children, along with delivery rooms, emergency wards, and consultation areas.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak highlighted the focus on health and hygiene during preparations, aimed at ensuring a safe and hygienic experience for pilgrims, sadhus, saints, and tourists.

"We are committed to organizing a divine, grand, and digital MahaKumbh," said Pathak.

Recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the MahaKumbh will take place in Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26, 2025.

This spiritual event, held every 12 years, celebrates the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers.

Pathak, during a roadshow in Mumbai, invited Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan, CM Devendra Fadnavis, and the people of Maharashtra to participate in the event.
