Recently, Uttar Pradesh also surpassed the 80 Lakh (8 million) mark in ABHA-based Outpatient Department (OPD) registrations.
In a significant accomplishment, Uttar Pradesh has set a record by generating over 1 Cr (10 million) tokens through the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) ID initiative.
This makes Uttar Pradesh the first and only state in India to reach this milestone, with a total of 1.43 Cr (14.3 million) tokens generated to date. Following Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh ranks second with 60.33 Lakh (6.03 million) tokens, and Karnataka holds third place with 42.57 Lakh (4.25 million) tokens.
Other states in the top rankings include Jammu and Kashmir (38.87 Lakh), Delhi (22.28 Lakh), Bihar (15.65 Lakh), Madhya Pradesh (12.53 Lakh), Maharashtra (7.96 Lakh), Chhattisgarh (7.34 Lakh), Odisha (5.06 Lakh), and Gujarat (3.83 Lakh).
Recently, Uttar Pradesh also set a new benchmark by surpassing the figure of 80 Lakh (8 million) in ABHA-based Outpatient Department (OPD) registrations.
ABHA is an initiative of the National Health Authority (NHA) under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).
ABHA aims to provide financial assistance to economically weaker sections of society. Each ABHA ID is linked to a citizen's Aadhaar or mobile number and features a unique 14-digit identification number.
This system facilitates the digital storage and accessibility of all health-related information, including consultations, medical records, and prescriptions.
In another development, just days back, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) adjourned the compulsory linkage of Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) beneficiary IDs with Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) IDs until further notice.
Initially slated to be enforced on April 1, 2024, the directive mandated that all CGHS beneficiaries link their IDs with ABHA IDs within 30 days.
On the other hand, in April, the Union Health Secretary called upon states and union territories to expedite the integration of the ABHA with various health portals to enhance digital healthcare services.
According to Health Secretary Apurva Chandra, linking ABHA with platforms such as Reproductive Child Health (RCH) and National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NIKSHAY) is crucial for optimizing the benefits of digital health records.
