Ujala Cygnus Group of Hospitals has announced the acquisition of a significant stake in Amandeep Hospitals, marking a major expansion of its healthcare network across North India.
With this development, the combined network will grow from 21 to 26 hospitals, and the total bed capacity will increase from 2,000 to nearly 2,800.
The financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed. However, per the official announcement, the acquisition includes five multi-specialty hospitals operated by Amandeep Group across Amritsar, Pathankot, Ferozepur, and Srinagar.
“This partnership with the Amandeep Group of Hospitals marks a bold step forward in our mission to make world-class, affordable healthcare accessible to every corner of North India,” said Dr Shuchin Bajaj, Founder Director, Ujala Cygnus Hospitals.
According to the group, the integration is not limited to numerical expansion but also involves strategic growth in enhanced healthcare services and regional presence. The group aims to broaden its reach within Punjab through possible new hospitals in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, and the Tricity region.
“By combining our respective strengths, we are poised to redefine the healthcare landscape in Punjab and J&K. Our goal is not just to grow but to grow meaningfully—with deeper community engagement, stronger medical talent, and a continuous focus on clinical outcomes,” said Probal Ghosal, Chairman, Director and Co-Founder, Ujala Cygnus Healthcare Services.
The collaboration will also focus on advancing tertiary and quaternary care offerings, targeting both rural and urban healthcare demands. The decision is aligned with Ujala Cygnus’s ongoing strategy to build comprehensive healthcare services with a sharp focus on clinical performance and patient outcomes.
The deal reflects a larger trend of consolidation in the hospital sector to achieve scalability, enhanced service delivery, and regional depth. The increased bed capacity—rising by nearly 40%—positions the group to serve a more extensive patient base while strengthening its infrastructure in both tier-1 and tier-2 cities in northern India.
While the exact shareholding pattern remains undisclosed, the strategic stake positions Ujala Cygnus for deeper penetration in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.
