The network of hubs at AIIMS locations, including Guwahati, Rishikesh, Bilaspur, and Bhopal, aims to improve healthcare access in remote areas across Assam, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and other states.
In a significant move to bolster healthcare logistics, drone firm TechEagle has launched eight dedicated drone hubs across India, in partnership with leading healthcare institutions, including several branches of the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
These drone hubs, inaugurated virtually last week by PM Narendra Modi as part of a larger healthcare development initiative, are set to serve underserved and remote areas by providing timely deliveries of essential medical supplies such as medicines, vaccines, and diagnostic samples.
This network of hubs, which includes locations at AIIMS Guwahati, AIIMS Rishikesh, AIIMS Bilaspur, and AIIMS Bhopal, marks a strategic step towards bridging healthcare accessibility gaps across challenging terrains in states such as Assam, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh, among others.
TechEagle highlighted that the initiative will significantly reduce delivery times, with drones reaching destinations within 20–30 minutes — an improvement that renders the delivery process 20 times faster than traditional transport methods.
The hubs are positioned to service over 200 locations in the upcoming year, and the drone firm stated it expects this expanded network to reshape the country’s healthcare logistics landscape.
In an official statement, Anshu Abhishek, Co-Founder and COO of TechEagle, remarked, “Our drone trials with AIIMS reduced delivery times to just 20–30 minutes — 20 times faster than traditional ground transport. This competitive edge led us to secure major contracts, capturing over 80 percent of cumulative contract value in this domain.”
The newly launched hubs represent the initial phase in TechEagle’s broader vision of establishing a nationwide drone logistics network. With its current operational capacity allowing for approximately 50 flights daily, the company plans to scale up to 5,000 flights per day over the next few years.
These hubs will not only serve healthcare needs but are also expected to support deliveries across other sectors, including e-commerce and hyperlocal services.
TechEagle expressed that, while the hubs are currently focused on medical supplies, the infrastructure can expand into other areas, creating a shared logistics network. According to the company, this foundational step lays the groundwork for a drone “airline” dedicated to logistical services across multiple sectors, with healthcare remaining a priority focus area.
The collaborative initiative was launched as part of a broader INR 12,850 Cr investment in healthcare projects by the government, which aims to enhance healthcare infrastructure and access across the country.
