By promoting data-driven innovations and supporting the subscription economy, the ‘xG-Force’ lab aims to reshape 5G applications on a global scale.

Tata Elxsi, a global leader in design and technology services, has launched the ‘xG-Force’ lab in Bengaluru, aimed at accelerating 5G innovation across various sectors.

This advanced facility offers ready-to-use infrastructure, cutting-edge tools, and an integrated partner ecosystem to support applications in transportation, healthcare, Industry 4.0, media, and communications.

The lab was inaugurated by Manoj Raghavan, MD and CEO of Tata Elxsi, alongside Kevin Plunkett, VP of Cloud Services at Boost Mobile, an EchoStar company.

Boost Mobile will be the first to benefit from the lab's capabilities, underscoring the strong partnership between the two companies.

Platform for 5G Innovation

“The xG-Force lab acts as a force multiplier, offering a platform to explore, validate, and accelerate the adoption of emerging technologies,” Raghavan explained.

By combining Tata Elxsi’s expertise in digital engineering, AI, and automation with domain-specific applications, the lab aims to develop transformative solutions for both consumers and enterprises.

As the systems integrator for the initiative, Tata Elxsi will use its innovative platforms—Neuron for autonomous networks, TETHER for connected vehicles, TEngage for digital health, and TEDAx for big data engineering—to create advanced 5G solutions.

New Lab’s Offerings

The xG-Force lab is designed to provide global customers with several advantages, including AI-driven smart operations that reduce operational expenses (OPEX) and unlock new revenue streams.

By promoting data-driven innovations and supporting the subscription economy, the lab aims to reshape 5G applications on a global scale.

Kevin Plunkett noted that the xG-Force lab is crucial for driving innovation in the 5G sector, comparing it to EchoStar’s Open RAN Center for Integration and Deployment (ORCID) in Wyoming.

“This lab will set higher standards across the industry,” Plunkett added.

Future Expansion

Vivek Tiwary, Vice President and Head of Telecom Business at Tata Elxsi, emphasized the collaborative nature of the xG-Force lab, stating, “Boost Mobile is a trailblazer in telecom, and xG-Force aims to create solutions that have not been developed so far.”

The lab has been established in collaboration with industry leaders, hyperscalers, and chip manufacturers, including RedHat (Private Cloud), AccuKnox (Cloud & Application Security), i2i Systems (5G Core), and Rebaca (Test Tools).

Tata Elxsi plans to expand partnerships with more global players to further enhance the lab’s capabilities.

Rahul Jadhav, CTO and co-founder of AccuKnox said, “The xG-Force lab will foster rapid adoption of 5G technologies while reducing OPEX by testing critical use cases. We are excited to be part of this initiative and look forward to building a secure 5G ecosystem.”

The lab will address crucial areas such as digital health and Industry 4.0 solutions for smart factories. It will also focus on minimizing risks in critical areas like healthcare data security, making it a key player in the advancement of 5G technologies.
