This development is expected to improve orthopedic care by enabling customized patient-specific anatomical models, leading to better surgical outcomes.
Aakash Healthcare Super Speciality Hospital in Dwarka has introduced an Advanced 3D Printing Lab in collaboration with Stratasys, an American-Israeli manufacturer of 3D printers.
This development is expected to improve orthopedic care by enabling customized patient-specific anatomical models, leading to better surgical outcomes.
At the core of this partnership is the Stratasys Digital Anatomy 3D Printer, which will allow the hospital to create highly realistic anatomical models tailored to individual patients’ needs.
Reportedly, these models will support medical professionals in pre-surgical planning and improve the training of healthcare staff.
The technology's enhanced surgical precision could reduce complications and recovery times, offering a significant step forward in patient care, claimed the company.
Speaking on the occasion, Andreas Langfeld, president of Stratasys EMEA and APAC, said, "The launch of this advanced lab at Aakash Healthcare, featuring our Digital Anatomy 3D Printer, is a significant milestone in our mission to improve patient care through 3D printing technology. This partnership reflects our commitment to providing healthcare professionals with the tools they need to deliver personalized, precise treatment."
3D printing allows surgeons to plan and practice intricate procedures on life-like models before operating on patients. This not only increases surgical accuracy but also contributes to better patient outcomes, setting a new benchmark in orthopedic care.
The 3D printing lab at Aakash Healthcare is primarily aimed at transforming orthopedic care, with its impact expected to extend across various medical disciplines.
Rajiv Bajaj, MD of Stratasys India, highlighted the importance of this partnership, stating, "The integration of Stratasys’s technology into Aakash Healthcare is a testament to the transformative potential of 3D printing in medicine. Our collaboration with Aakash Hospital will demonstrate the true capabilities of 3D printing in delivering personalized healthcare solutions. By providing surgeons with precise and functional anatomical models, we are not only improving surgical preparation but also advancing overall patient care."
The lab will serve as a hub for medical innovation, enabling pre-surgical planning, enhancing training modules for medical staff, and supporting the development of new medical devices.
These improvements are expected to lead to more efficient surgeries, less time under anesthesia for patients, and quicker recovery periods.
"Integrating Stratasys Digital Anatomy 3D Printing technology into our orthopedic practice marks a major advancement in delivering personalized, precise, and effective treatment options," Aakash Healthcare’s MD, Dr Aashish Chaudhry, stated.
By providing more accurate and functional models, the technology seeks to improve medical training and contribute to the development of new medical technologies.
