Star Health Insurance, a leading standalone health insurance provider in India, has announced the launch of its CSR initiative, ‘Star Arogya Digi Seva’, in partnership with the Center for Chronic Disease and Control (CCDC).
This program is designed to address healthcare challenges in underserved rural areas by integrating telemedicine technology with Mobile Health Units (MHUs).
Reportedly, the initiative will focus on five aspirational districts in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, covering 74 villages across 10 districts. Further, it aims to address non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and promote preventive healthcare.
Speaking about the program, Anand Roy, MD & CEO of Star Health Insurance, stated, “Star Arogya Digi Seva is more than just a CSR project — it is a commitment to making quality healthcare accessible to everyone, regardless of their location or circumstances. By combining technology with on-the-ground services, we are creating a healthcare model that empowers communities, prevents diseases, and transforms lives. At Star Health, we are deeply invested in keeping people healthy and are thus driving initiatives in preventive health care and wellness. Also, we are aligned with IRDAI's mission of 'Insurance for All' and are committed to drive awareness on adequate health cover in rural India.”
The program adopts a patient-centric approach by leveraging telemedicine for remote consultations and integrating MHUs for physical examinations and treatments.
These mobile units are equipped to offer diagnostic services, real-time medical consultations, immediate care, and regular follow-ups.
Additionally, the initiative will emphasize diabetes and hypertension management, alongside awareness campaigns on iron nutrition and preventive health practices.
Initially, the project will focus on regions in Tamil Nadu, including Ramanathapuram, Manapparai, and Chennai, before expanding to other areas.
By bridging healthcare gaps, the company aligns with its mission to make healthcare accessible to all while supporting the IRDAI’s goal of achieving ‘Insurance for All.’
Founded in 2006, Star Health and Allied Insurance is India’s first standalone health insurance provider. The company offers a comprehensive range of health insurance solutions, including products tailored for diabetes, cancer, cardiac illnesses, and senior citizens.
