The MoU focuses on oncology, cardiology, and neurology, emphasizing AI and digital platforms for improved patient outcomes

In a bid to enhance healthcare infrastructure and leverage technologies, Sparsh Group of Hospitals has partnered with GE HealthCare to advance clinical care in India.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the two entities focuses on oncology, cardiology, and neurology, emphasizing integrating AI and digital platforms for improved patient outcomes and medical research.

The collaboration aims to harness technological advancements to bolster clinical care in crucial medical domains.

With a vision to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, especially in Karnataka, the partnership highlights the importance of integrating AI and digital solutions in preventive healthcare, precise diagnosis, and timely treatment. The emergence of digital healthcare solutions such as virtual care and AI-integrated MedTech devices holds promise for more purposeful treatment outcomes.

Adding insight, Dr Sharan Shivraj Patil, chairman and chief orthopedic surgeon at Sparsh Hospital, highlighted the role of technology in medical care, underscoring its significance in making interventions, diagnoses, and treatments more precise.

He said, "With technology playing a significant role in medical care, this tie-up assumes significance. I believe that new technologies, especially digital tools and AI, make medical interventions, diagnoses, and treatments more precise, and they are enabling the scaling of services beyond confined geographies."

Focus on Precision Care & Accessible Healthcare

The collaboration between Sparsh Hospital and GE HealthCare aligns with the broader goal of providing continuity of care beyond the hospital setting. This partnership seeks to enable safe, effective, and accessible home healthcare, leveraging both entities' combined expertise to deliver innovative care solutions.

Commenting on the same, Girish Raghavan, VP - of engineering at GE HealthCare South Asia, said, “The next decade will witness some of the most profound changes in healthcare. With the integration of advanced clinical and academic research, aggregated data, AI, and ML, there is a tectonic shift in how we treat and provide the best healthcare to patients where they need it most. Precision care helps in clinical decision-making and matching patients to highly targeted therapies based on the individual’s profile.”

He further noted the importance of collaborations, especially in light of the government's focus on strengthening initiatives such as the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. Raghavagn emphasized the critical role of such collaborations in leveraging digital technology to ensure seamless access to care, thereby making healthcare more humane and accessible.

Expansion of GE HealthCare's Precision Care Portfolio

In addition to the collaboration with Sparsh Hospital, GE HealthCare has announced strategic moves to expand its precision care portfolio. The acquisition of MIM Software, a global medical imaging software provider specializing in AI-driven image analysis, aims to fortify GE HealthCare's capabilities in AI and analytics. MIM Software's expertise in AI-driven image analysis tools for medical specialties such as oncology, neurology, and cardiology aligns with GE HealthCare's strategy of integrating digital solutions across care pathways.

Additionally, GE Healthcare's partnership with at-home patient care provider Biofourmis highlights its dedication to extending healthcare beyond conventional settings. The collaboration aims to enhance patient healthcare access by scaling and implementing innovative care-at-home solutions. Its goal is to support patients outside hospital environments and ensure continuity of care.

According to GE Healthcare, the partnership will facilitate safe, effective, and accessible healthcare at home by combining the expertise of both entities.
