Samsung has announced the launch of Samsung Health Research Stack 2.0 Beta, rebranding the open-source project as part of the Samsung Health SDK Suite.
This comprehensive suite of software development tools aims to advance digital healthcare solutions by streamlining research and application development.
The Samsung Health Research Stack includes an app SDK for creating digital health apps, a back-end service for data management, and a web portal to assist researchers in study design and analysis.
The updated version introduces new features based on user feedback, enhancing convenience and usability for researchers.
The app SDK is designed to lower costs and reduce development time for digital health applications. It now supports the creation of mobile and smartwatch apps, leveraging wearable sensor data from devices such as the Galaxy Watch.
Enhanced support for the Sensor SDK enables smartwatch apps to measure electrocardiograms, blood oxygen levels, and body composition.
The Data SDK has also been integrated, allowing researchers to utilize the Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Ring sleep data. These tools expand the possibilities for creating tailored health monitoring and analysis applications.
Samsung has improved the back-end service to handle data from large-scale clinical trials, adding features to manage study processes better.
The web portal now supports researchers throughout the research lifecycle, including patient recruitment, survey management, and data analysis.
Samsung Health Research Stack is open to companies and medical institutions in the digital healthcare space, fostering the development of solutions that integrate wearable devices and biomarkers.
“Samsung Health Research Stack is already being used in multiple domestic and international clinical studies that utilize Galaxy Watch. With our innovative wearable technology, we aim to contribute to expanding the digital health ecosystem and serve as a valuable partner to IT and medical professionals in achieving research breakthroughs.” said Yunsu Lee, Head of the Data Intelligence Team at Samsung Research.
