The five-year collaboration aims to foster joint research projects, offering students and faculty from IIT Bombay opportunities to work closely with Samsung engineers.

Samsung R&D Institute, Noida (SRI-Noida), has entered a strategic partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) to advance research in artificial intelligence (AI), digital health, and other critical technologies.

The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed during a ceremony at IIT Bombay.

The five-year collaboration aims to foster joint research projects, offering students and faculty from IIT Bombay opportunities to work closely with Samsung engineers.

This partnership will also promote the publication of joint research papers, encourage the exchange of ideas, and drive technological innovation that aligns with industry needs.

The MoU was signed by Kyungyun Roo, Managing Director of SRI-Noida, and Prof Upendra V Bhandarkar, Associate Dean of Research and Development at IIT Bombay.

The signing event was attended by prominent faculty members, including representatives from the Koita Centre for Digital Health (KCDH), such as Prof Ranjith Padinhateeri, Head of KCDH, and other notable academics.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Bhandarkar stated, “This MoU represents our shared commitment to innovation and excellence. By working together, we are creating new pathways for students and faculty to engage with industry, advancing research opportunities, and contributing to the growth of our communities.”

Through this collaboration, Samsung and IIT Bombay aim to set a strong foundation for advancing next-generation technologies, inspiring breakthroughs in critical domains, and fostering sustainable knowledge exchange.

In another development, last month, Samsung launched a medication tracking feature in its Samsung Health app in India, designed to assist users in managing their medications more efficiently.

This feature targets individuals with chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes, and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS/PCOD), emphasizing the importance of regular medication adherence.
