In the recent budget, over INR 27,000 Cr was allocated for healthcare, an increase from 7.4% to 8.2% compared to last year.
The Rajasthan government is preparing to introduce a new policy aimed at promoting medical tourism, according to an official from the state's medical and health department.
The policy, 'Heal in Rajasthan,' is designed to position the state as a leader in the health sector and create significant opportunities for investment and employment.
"We have started gathering input for the policy by organizing sessions with doctors and medical colleges, both private and government," the official said.
The official emphasized that this focus on healthcare infrastructure will be central to the success of the 'Heal in Rajasthan' policy.
The draft policy outlines plans to establish hubs for medical tourism, catering to both domestic and international patients seeking secondary, tertiary, and quaternary care procedures.
In addition to conventional medical services, the policy aims to promote AYUSH-based wellness tourism, integrating traditional Indian therapies such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy with Rajasthan's rich cultural heritage.
The 'Heal in Rajasthan' policy represents a commitment by the state government to create an ecosystem that supports medical excellence and cultural richness.
By combining world-class healthcare with Rajasthan's cultural appeal, the policy is expected to enhance the state's economic vitality through increased domestic and international tourism.
The state is home to over 8,000 hospitals across both the government and private sectors, with more than 400 of these being multi-specialty or super-specialty institutions.
Additionally, Rajasthan has 35 medical colleges and 16 dental colleges, contributing to a well-trained pool of healthcare professionals.
Healthcare has been a core priority for the state, with over INR 27,000 Cr allocated in the recent budget, marking an increase from 7.4% to 8.2% compared to last year.
Under the Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya (MAA) health infrastructure mission, the Rajasthan government proposes to invest over INR 15,000 Cr over the next three years.
This investment will focus on improving super-specialty and tertiary care facilities, as well as upgrading existing healthcare establishments.
In a similar development, CM Bhajan Lal Sharma last month launched three major health campaigns in Rajasthan, aiming to significantly improve the state's public health.
The initiatives include the National Pulse Polio Campaign, the Chief Minister Stop Diarrhea Campaign 2024, and the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) IDs Creation Campaign.
