Praia Health, a platform-as-a-service technology developed in-house, represents Providence's fourth technological innovation from the Providence Digital Innovation Group.
Washington-based Providence, a healthcare institution, has launched Praia Health, a platform-as-a-service technology representing the company's fourth technological innovation.
Utilising the concept of a digital flywheel, Praia Health engages consumers algorithmically, removing obstacles to personalised patient care.
According to Providence's officials, this technology tailors health journeys for individuals and seamlessly connects them to relevant services, products, and resources.
Praia Health has appointed startup veteran Justin Dearborn as its executive-in-residence and is actively collaborating with various health systems, ecosystem partners, and system integrators.
The Praia Health Identity and Engagement Platform, initially launched in Providence in January 2022, currently serves over 3 million user accounts.
According to the health system, in 2022 alone, it delivered over $20 million in measurable value to the organisation.
In a statement, Justin Dearborn said, "Praia Health comes with its own 'customer zero' so we can directly project the platform's value to our future health system customers. It's a rare opportunity to lead an organization with such a measurable success track record."
Praia Health's solution relies on patent-pending identity technology that connects fragmented data sources and point solutions. According to the company, this technology facilitates new omnichannel experiences encompassing a consumer's health ecosystem, extending beyond clinical records.
The platform was developed to streamline the delivery of personalised mobile and web experiences, offering seamless integrations with tech companies, even those outside the traditional healthcare domain.
Commenting about the importance of technology in the current healthcare landscape, Sara Vaezy, chief strategy and digital officer at Providence, said, "Health systems are at a critical juncture. The connection between the health system and health consumers is at its most delicate in an increasingly competitive, distributed, and decentralized environment. Technology is both the challenge and the solution. Health systems must draw inspiration from consumer-facing industries to fuel operational transformation and expand their business models. Digital transformation is now a health system imperative. That's why we built Praia Health."Providence Digital Innovation Group, an innovation team within the expansive 51-hospital health system, is tasked with developing digital health tools.
Other startups that originated within this group include Xealth, a solution facilitating the ordering of digital health content, apps, and services by care teams; Circle, a women's health application acquired by Wildflower Health in 2018; and DexCare, a health tech startup utilising data intelligence to manage the logistics of digital care delivery.
