The development will proceed in phases, integrating advanced medical technologies such as AI-driven diagnostics, telemedicine, and remote patient monitoring.

Dr Ravishankar Polisetty, chief of Poly Scientific Ayurveda (PSA), has announced plans to set up smart health cities in Hyderabad, leveraging advanced healthcare innovations.

His appointment as a representative for the Association of National Green and Climate Councils (ANGCC) has spurred this initiative aimed at enhancing urban healthcare.

The smart health city project in Hyderabad will begin with the establishment of a manufacturing facility to supply modern equipment for Poly Scientific Ayurvedic Care.

The development will proceed in phases, integrating advanced medical technologies such as AI-driven diagnostics, telemedicine, and remote patient monitoring.

A holistic cancer center will be set up in the smart health city, consisting of an ion and proton therapy unit, an academy, a rehabilitation clinic, accommodations, and a hospital with advanced technologies.

Dr Polisetty emphasized that the technological advancements will not only improve patient outcomes but also optimize resource allocation and enhance responsiveness to healthcare challenges and emergencies.

"This approach ensures a holistic urban healthcare model, fostering smarter and healthier cities," he stated.

Sharing details, Dr Polisetty said that the infrastructural units are also part of the project. There are plans to have health cities across India, mainly in 34 metros and Tier-II cities.

With this initiative, the ANGCC representative aims to create a comprehensive health ecosystem where stakeholders collaborate to address health factors comprehensively, from preventive measures to remedies.

“Smart Cities can benefit from data-driven, holistic healthcare as it can gather crucial information and offer comprehensive solutions by synergising traditional systems like Ayurveda with modern medicine. This integration can help us to go beyond symptomatic treatments and devise strategies to prevent health issues before they arise,” added Dr Polisetty.

Dr Polisetty, a prominent cardiac surgeon turned translational ayurvedic researcher, has pioneered PSA, combining Ayurveda and biotechnology.

He was appointed to the Association of National Green and Climate Councils this month, a global organization dedicated to promoting sustainable practices. It aims to create a sustainable urban ecosystem that emphasizes holistic wellness strategies beyond merely treating diseases.

In a similar development, days back, Medtronic invested $60 million to establish a new Global IT Center (GIT) in Hyderabad, expanding its Medtronic Engineering & Innovation Centre (MEIC) in the city.

This new facility marks Medtronic's first large-scale IT setup outside the US and is expected to create around 300 jobs over the next three to five years.

Likewise, JV Ventures, an investment management firm specializing in value-added infrastructure, launched The Medical Centre (TMC) in Hyderabad in May this year. The facility sought to provide comprehensive healthcare services and integrated wellness solutions under one roof.
