PM Narendra Modi is set to visit Bihar on November 13 to inaugurate the foundation stone ceremony for AIIMS Darbhanga, an INR 1,700 Cr healthcare project, Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey announced on Sunday.
The foundation-laying event, scheduled to be held in Darbhanga, will also include a 'bhumi pujan' ceremony, attended by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, along with Union ministers Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi.
AIIMS Darbhanga will make Darbhanga the second city in Bihar to host an All India Institute for Medical Sciences, following Patna.
"The project, which involves a cost of Rs 1,700 crore, will be of immense benefit to north Bihar and adjoining areas. AIIMS, Darbhanga is a proof that the NDA, which rules the Centre as well as the state, works for the development of all areas and cares for the most needy sections of society," Pandey added.
Further, the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recently said "We have been working for the development of Bihar since 2005. Several infrastructural and development works have been done in Bihar after 2005…..and it will continue further under the NDA rule"
In September this year, Union Health Minister JP Nadda inaugurated super specialty blocks at government medical colleges in Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur.
On his two-day visit to Bihar, Nadda also inspected the land designated for the construction of an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Darbhanga.
Each super specialty block, built at a cost of INR 150 Cr, is equipped with 210 beds.
The new facilities include eight modular operation theatres and specialized departments in cardiology, neurology, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, nephrology, neonatology, and burn and plastic reconstructive surgery.
