The inauguration of AIIMS Jammu is part of a broader initiative to enhance the healthcare ecosystem in the country. Recently, PM Modi laid the foundation stone of a new AIIMS in Rewari, Haryana, as part of a series of inaugurations and dedications of AIIMS hospitals across various states.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya highlighted the significant investment made by the government in healthcare infrastructure. He mentioned that till 2014, the nation had six AIIMS in seven decades, and within the next ten days, seven AIIMS hospitals would be inaugurated across the country.
Established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), AIIMS-Rewari aims to deliver comprehensive, high-quality tertiary-care health services to the people of Haryana.
In recent updates, AIIMS New Delhi introduced the AIIMS-SBI Smart Payment Card to simplify patient payment procedures. Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, launched this card to alleviate the burden of carrying cash for treatment, particularly for patients from remote areas. The card, linked to the patient’s Unique Hospital Identification (UHID) number and Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) ID, is issued free of cost upon admission, streamlining payment processes at various hospital counters.
Additionally, AIIMS Delhi partnered with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) Pune to unveil iOncology.ai, an AI-based platform for cancer diagnosis. This platform claims early cancer detection, a critical step in improving patient outcomes.
In another similar development, Dr Mandaviya recently laid the foundation stone for 68 health services at AIIMS Jodhpur and inaugurated 24 health facilities across multiple AIIMS locations.
