Located in a 10-acre plot in MIDC, Chinchwad, the upcoming facility aims to streamline collaboration and improve efficiency in healthcare innovation.
Global healthtech player Royal Philips has established a new Research and Development (R&D) center in Pune, India, aimed to bolster the company's Healthcare Innovation Centre (HIC) in the region.
Located in a 10-acre plot in MIDC, Chinchwad, the upcoming facility aims to streamline collaboration and improve efficiency in healthcare innovation.
Commenting on the development, Bert van Meurs, executive VP & chief business leader, Philips, said, "Our Healthcare Innovation Centre in Pune provides unique and far-reaching capabilities to address the needs of both Indian and global markets."
The center is expected to become operational in the next two years.
The new center will host R&D teams spanning various sectors, including image-guided therapy, precision diagnosis, monitoring, and sleep & respiratory businesses.
This consolidation of teams under one roof will facilitate optimization for scale, speed, and efficiency while fostering resource and best practice sharing across different business domains.
Situated in the MIDC area of Chinchwad, the upcoming R&D center occupies a sprawling 10-acre plot. In its initial phase, the facility will boast an expansive office space spanning approximately 300,000 square feet.
Moreover, it is projected to accommodate around 1,900 employees, reflecting Philips' commitment to scaling up its operations in the healthcare sector.
In line with its commitment to sustainability, the new center will incorporate environmentally friendly features. These include provisions for green power, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, and the promotion of bicycle commuting.
Sharing insights, Peeyush Kaushik, VP & head, Healthcare Innovation Centre, Pune, said, "With the launch of this new center, we will be able to design more innovative end-to-end solutions and collaborate better with healthcare providers."
In addition to the Pune expansion, Philips has been actively advancing healthcare technology across various fronts.
The company recently partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to leverage cloud technology for digital pathology solutions. This collaboration aims to streamline clinical workflows and enhance productivity in pathology labs.
Moreover, Philips also achieved a significant milestone by completing over 1500 Cath Lab installations in the Indian subcontinent. This milestone underscores the company's commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and services, particularly in addressing cardiovascular health challenges.
Daniel Mazon, VC & MD of Philips Indian Subcontinent, reiterated the company's dedication to advancing healthcare solutions.
"The milestone of 1500+ Cath Lab installations reflects our commitment to supporting the local health ecosystem and enhancing patient care," Mazon added.
Additionally, Philips collaborated with healthcare providers to optimize workflows, ensuring more time is available for patient-focused care. The 'Care Means the World' campaign highlights the interconnectedness of human and environmental health, emphasizing the importance of both in healthcare.
Days back, Philips launched an innovation campus in Bengaluru to advance healthcare technology. The primary goal is to enhance patient experiences, improve health outcomes, streamline staff experiences, and reduce the overall cost of care.
