Royal Philips has announced an expansion of its partnership with Ibex Medical Analytics alongside the release of its latest Philips IntelliSite Pathology Solution (PIPS) 6.0.
The initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of AI-driven digital pathology, address the global shortage of pathologists, and improve cancer diagnostics.
Philips and Ibex first collaborated in 2021, combining Philips’ suite of pathology scanners and image management systems with Ibex’s AI-powered diagnostic tools for prostate, breast, and gastric cancers.
The integration enhances pathology workflows, supporting pathologists in delivering faster and more precise diagnoses.
Pathology plays a crucial role in cancer diagnosis, and the integration of AI solutions helps streamline the diagnostic process.
Sam Terese, president and CEO of Alverno Laboratories, highlighted the impact of this collaboration, stating that AI-powered pathology tools aid pathologists in making accurate diagnoses efficiently.
By incorporating AI, the platform enables laboratories to deliver high-quality results promptly, reducing patient anxiety and improving clinical outcomes.
The latest version of Philips IntelliSite Pathology introduces several enhancements to improve pathology workflows.
Key features include a full scan mode for the pathology SG scanner, improved scalability, and AI-driven worklists that display AI processing status at a case level.
Additionally, slides can now be automatically shared with Ibex AI applications immediately after digitization, further streamlining the diagnostic process.
According to Stéphane Rossat, director of innovation, science, and project management at Medipath France, the improved interoperability between Philips and Ibex platforms facilitates the adoption of AI-driven pathology tools.
He noted that PIPS 6.0 enhances workflow efficiency, making AI-assisted pathology more accessible for physicians.
