Philips Appoints Bharath Sesha as MD for Indian Subcontinent

In his new position, Sesha is expected to drive Philips' mission to improve healthcare accessibility and affordability in India. 

Philips, a global leader in healthtech, has appointed Bharath Sesha as the new Managing Director for the Indian Subcontinent. The appointment is effective from September 1, 2024.

Per reports, Sesha will lead Philips' operations in India, focusing on driving the company's growth strategy and enhancing customer satisfaction. 

His responsibilities will include overseeing the healthcare business based in Gurgaon and managing Philips’ License to Operate in India, which encompasses several key facilities including the Philips Innovation Campus (PIC) in Bengaluru, the Healthcare Innovation Centre (HIC) in Pune, and Global Business Services (GBS) in Chennai.

In his new position, Sesha is expected to drive Philips' mission to improve healthcare accessibility and affordability in India. 

He expressed enthusiasm about his role, stating, “I am thrilled to join Philips and contribute to our mission of improving healthcare accessibility and affordability in India. I look forward to working with our talented team to bring our innovative technologies to address India’s unique healthcare needs. We will continue to collaborate with our partners and stakeholders to enhance our impact on the lives of millions by expanding access to quality care.”

Sesha succeeds Daniel Mazon, who served as vice chairman and managing director for Philips in the Indian Subcontinent until April 1, 2024. Mazon has since moved to a global role at Philips' headquarters in the Netherlands.

The new MD brings over 20 years of global experience to his new role. His background includes significant experience in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, with a strong track record in strategic leadership, business development, and operational excellence. 

Before joining Philips, Sesha was the managing director at Heubach Colorants India. He is recognized for his ability to drive performance and innovation within teams.

Sesha holds a Master’s degree in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and an MBA from the Institute for Technology & Management (ITM).

Philips has been investing significantly in India to strengthen its position as a key player in the health technology sector. 

Notable initiatives include the establishment of the new Philips Innovation Campus (PIC) in Bengaluru in 2023 and the announcement of a new R&D campus at the Healthcare Innovation Centre (HIC) in Pune in 2024.
