In a move to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in Indonesia, Royal Philips and Siloam Hospitals Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to introduce advanced artificial intelligence (AI) solutions in the country's healthcare sector.
The partnership, supported by Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) Medical Sciences Group, focuses on improving clinical outcomes, optimizing healthcare delivery, and advancing digital transformation in line with the Indonesian government's healthcare strategy.
The collaboration will see the introduction of AI-driven solutions across several key clinical areas at Siloam Hospitals, including radiology, pathology, interventional cardiology, and clinical operations.
Furthermore, the application of AI is expected to enhance the accuracy and speed of clinical decision-making, allowing healthcare professionals to treat patients more effectively. It will also improve workflow management, supporting the system's capacity to handle a larger patient volume.
Speaking on the partnership, Roy Jakobs, CEO of Royal Philips, said, "At Philips, we believe that informatics and AI will help transform healthcare by optimizing workflows, improving efficiency, and increasing capacity – making healthcare more accessible and delivering better care for more people."
A significant aspect of the partnership is the focus on capacity building and developing local expertise in AI and digital health. In collaboration with UPH, the initiative includes training programs for healthcare professionals, IT specialists, and students, equipping them with the necessary skills to develop and apply AI in clinical settings.
Caroline Riady, Deputy President Director of Siloam Hospitals Group, highlighted the collaboration's significance in the nation's healthcare landscape. She said, "This partnership with Philips and UPH is a major milestone in our journey to bring advanced healthcare technologies to Indonesia. The MoU will also integrate AI into Siloam Hospitals' healthcare management systems, supporting Indonesia's digital health strategy.
This includes using AI in telemedicine, electronic medical records, and remote patient monitoring to improve patient outcomes, optimize hospital operations, and expand access to healthcare, even in remote regions. The initiative aims to deliver personalized and data-driven care to patients nationwide.
Minister of Investment, Rosan Roeslani praised the collaboration, stating, "The future of healthcare is digital, and AI will play a crucial role in revolutionizing how care is provided.
