The platform aims to replace outdated manual systems with a digital network to ease administrative burdens, speed up patient service approvals, and accelerate claims processing.
Oracle introduced its latest offering, Oracle Health Clinical Data Exchange, a cloud-based platform designed to simplify the sharing of medical claims information between healthcare providers and payers.
Built on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), the platform aims to replace outdated manual systems with a digital network to ease administrative burdens, speed up patient service approvals, and accelerate claims processing.
Currently, around 70% of authorizations in healthcare are handled manually via phone or fax, with just 25% of reimbursement-related documents shared digitally.
This reliance on manual methods results in delays in both patient care and payments. Oracle’s new platform seeks to address these inefficiencies, offering an automated solution for faster payer inquiries and quicker claims reimbursements.
Seema Verma, Oracle Health and Life Sciences Executive Vice President and General Manager, said, “The current claims process strains relationships between payers and providers, financially and operationally. Oracle Health Clinical Data Exchange is here to simplify and automate these processes so providers can focus on timely patient care.”
Healthcare providers will have more control over their data and can decide what information is shared with payer partners, helping maintain strong data governance. The platform’s advanced security features ensure patient data privacy and compliance with healthcare regulations.
Kent Hoyos, Vice President and CIO at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, said "We anticipate this solution will reduce the workload on our staff and help shorten patient wait times, allowing us to offer timely care to those in need."
The Oracle Health Clinical Data Exchange is designed to integrate seamlessly with existing electronic health record systems, allowing providers to add payer partners to the exchange at no extra cost.
This feature promises to eliminate the barriers often associated with data-sharing platforms, making it easier for healthcare providers to adopt.
Additionally, by replacing manual processes with an automated system, the platform is expected to reduce administrative costs and operational delays for healthcare providers.
This can lead to faster service approvals and quicker claim reimbursements, ultimately benefiting both patients and the healthcare system as a whole.
Oracle’s introduction of this platform aligns with the broader trend towards digitalization in healthcare, as more providers seek to adopt cloud-based solutions to improve operational efficiency.
The healthcare sector has long struggled with the slow pace of claims and authorizations, and Oracle's solution aims to fill this gap by providing a modern, automated alternative.
While further details about the platform will be shared at the Oracle Health Summit in Nashville later this month, the launch of Oracle Health Clinical Data Exchange already represents a significant step forward in transforming how medical claims are processed in the healthcare industry.
Oracle Corporation, known for its wide-ranging software and cloud infrastructure services, continues to expand its footprint in the healthcare sector. This latest offering further strengthens its position as a key player in providing innovative solutions for healthcare providers and payers.
