The company introduced advanced generative AI tools to simplify clinical workflows and improve patient care by reducing manual tasks for clinicians.

Global technology leader, Oracle has introduced Advanced AI Tools to Streamline Healthcare Processes.

This latest addition is in Oracle’s healthcare data platforms, featuring a generative AI service that simplifies care management, prebuilt clinical quality analytics, and automated alerts.

Oracle Health showcased its latest strides in healthcare technology at the HIMSS 2024 conference in Orlando, Florida.

Streamlining Healthcare Processes with AI

The company's focus on enhancing healthcare data management was evident by introducing prebuilt analytics tailored to various healthcare requirements.

This includes determinants of health, childhood wellness, immunization, and chronic conditions such as diabetes and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Talking about the development, Seema Verma, executive VP & general manager, Oracle Health and Life Sciences, said, "The new capabilities embedded within Oracle Health Data Intelligence can dramatically simplify customer efforts to address their regulatory goals, engage more patients, close care gaps, and lower the cost of care delivery."

Verma further emphasized the potential impact of Oracle's advancements in healthcare data intelligence, highlighting the platform's role in driving innovation to control costs, facilitate breakthroughs, and foster industry transformation.

Oracle’s Strategies for AI Integration

During Oracle's fiscal third-quarter earnings call, Larry Ellison, Oracle's executive chairman and CTO, highlighted the company's strategic focus on integrating generative AI  into its industry-specific applications, particularly in healthcare.

Ellison underscored Oracle's approach of developing entirely new applications infused with generative AI technology, leveraging tools such as the APEX application generator and autonomous database.

He said, "The best example is in healthcare, where Oracle did not just add a bit of AI around the edges of existing applications. Instead, we developed completely new applications using our APEX application generator and our autonomous database. These all-new applications use generative AI throughout the application."

Oracle's efforts to modernize healthcare systems were further underscored by the successful migration of most Cerner customers to Oracle's Gen2 cloud infrastructure.

Ellison highlighted the significance of transitioning Cerner to the cloud, enabling Oracle to provide regular application updates and deliver innovative solutions to healthcare providers.

"We're able to modernize those customers in the cloud regularly and start delivering our brand-new applications," Ellison explained.

He further elaborated on Oracle's upcoming ambulatory clinic cloud application suite, featuring a revolutionary clinical digital assistant designed to streamline patient-doctor interactions and enhance overall efficiency.

Enhancing Patient Care Through Innovation

Oracle's commitment to innovation extends beyond clinical settings to patient engagement. The company's introduction of the Oracle Clinical Digital Assistant integrates generative AI technology with voice commands to facilitate seamless interactions between providers and patients.

Executives highlighted the assistant's role in automating note-taking during appointments and simplifying patient self-service actions.

Mike Sicilia, executive VP, Oracle Industries, emphasized the company's mission to eliminate unnecessary clicks from healthcare systems, enhance user experience, and improve efficiency.

Sicilia outlined Oracle's comprehensive approach to modernizing healthcare applications and integrating them seamlessly into existing infrastructure.

Oracle's strategic focus on cloud infrastructure and AI-driven solutions has yielded positive results, which is evident from the recent quarterly earnings report.

Despite challenges posed by the Cerner acquisition, Oracle reported strong demand for its cloud infrastructure business, with total revenue reaching $13.3 billion.

Oracle CEO Safra Catz expressed confidence in Oracle's continued growth trajectory, noting the expected return to growth for the Cerner business in the upcoming fiscal year.

Catz also reiterated Oracle's focus on delivering innovative solutions and driving industry transformation in the healthcare sector.
