He warned that the BJP would initiate a movement if the scheme is not rolled out promptly, emphasizing its potential to benefit Delhi’s residents.

Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, on Monday urged Delhi CM Atishi to implement the Central government’s “Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission” (PM-ABHIM) scheme across the capital.

He claimed the Delhi government has not utilized INR 2,406 Cr provided by the Center, making Delhi the only region in India yet to benefit from the initiative.

The scheme, designed to establish 1,139 public health centers, testing labs, and critical care units (CCUs) in Delhi's 11 districts, has reportedly seen no progress. Gupta alleged that delays by the AAP government have stalled the project since 2021.

“The funds allocated were meant to create essential public health infrastructure, including 11 public health labs, 10 critical care blocks, and critical care units across government hospitals,” Gupta said, adding that while other states have made full use of their allocations, Delhi’s share remains unutilized.

In a letter to the CM, Gupta demanded immediate implementation of the scheme. He warned that the BJP would initiate a movement if the scheme is not rolled out promptly, emphasizing its potential to benefit Delhi’s residents.

He further alleged that the AAP administration had outsourced public hospital lab services to a private company, leading to potential corruption.

According to Gupta, the scheme would also establish four government hospitals with 100-bed CCUs and five 50-bed ICUs across government medical colleges, but he claims these plans remain on hold due to inaction by the Delhi government.
