NURA, a diagnostic venture by Fujifilm Healthcare and Dr Kutty’s Healthcare, has introduced ‘NURA Express,’ a mobile health screening facility in Kozhikode, Kerala.
The initiative marks NURA’s first expansion into Kerala, aiming to enhance accessibility to health screening services, particularly for remote and underserved populations.
The mobile unit will travel to designated locations, offering cancer screenings and tests for lifestyle-related diseases using on-site CT scans. Employees working in offices or factories and residents of specific areas will have access to these services.
The captured images will be remotely analyzed by physicians at the ‘NURA Global Innovation Centre’ in Kozhikode.
Test results and reports will be made available through a dedicated smartphone app, allowing individuals to track their health status conveniently.
NURA and Fujifilm plan to expand the initiative further by partnering with local self-governments. This collaboration will facilitate municipal health screenings in remote areas, supporting early cancer detection and other lifestyle diseases.
Dr Bilal Thangal T M, Medical Lead, NURA, said, “Cancer and lifestyle diseases, such as ischemic heart disease, remain among the leading causes of death worldwide. Health screenings play a crucial role in the early detection of these conditions—enabling timely intervention through treatment and health guidance—and in disease prevention by fostering a deeper understanding of one’s health. However, in many emerging countries, access to health screening services remains limited, and the culture of preventive health checks is yet to be widely adopted.”
