In a move to strengthen its position in the smart wearables market, Noise, a leading Indian smartwatch brand, has acquired SocialBoat, an AI-powered women's wellness platform.
As part of the acquisition, Swapnil Vats, cofounder and CEO of SocialBoat will join Noise’s innovation team to introduce enhanced AI-powered fitness and health features.
“His experience in leveraging AI in the wellness domain will help Noise elevate Luna Ring’s advanced health and fitness metrics,” Noise said in a statement.
The acquisition, for an undisclosed amount, signifies Noise's sprint in the growing smart ring sector.
This strategic move is expected to bolster Noise's technological capabilities and enhance the Luna Ring's health-tracking functionalities.
Founded in 2021 by Swapnil Vats and Rahul Jain, the SocialBoat app provided a fitness and health tool for women in India by offering personalized diet and exercise regimens for women.
The platform utilizes AI to provide data-driven insights on topics including polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), thyroid disorders, and menstrual health.
Notably, SocialBoat secured funding of $200,000 in 2022 from angel investors.
Further, Noise aims to leverage SocialBoat's expertise in AI and its focus on women's health to "redefine consumers' experience '' according to a company statement.
The integration of AI aims to provide a more comprehensive well-being experience for women, empowering them to "achieve their full potential,” Noise said.
SocialBoat's AI platform analyzes data from various sources, including wearables, to offer personalized recommendations across nutrition, fitness, menstrual health, and overall well-being.
This data-driven approach aligns with Noise's vision for the Luna Ring, aiming to elevate it beyond basic health tracking and into a holistic wellness companion.
"We firmly believe that this strategic acquisition will propel innovation in Luna Ring," said Amit Khatri, cofounder of Noise.
He emphasized the company's commitment to the Luna ecosystem, highlighting the recent integration of AI technology, making Noise the "first brand to enable smart rings with AI."
Although the Smart Ring market in India is still at a nascent stage, its popularity is on the rise. Smart rings are discreet, less bulky, have longer battery life and offer the same health tracking features as smartwatches.
In 2023, BoAt launched its first smart wearable ring in India. The ring comes equipped with a heart rate monitor, SpO2 sensor and body temperature monitor. The wearable can also keep track of users sleep and it will also feature menstrual tracking functionality.
On Tuesday, Noise also rolled out a slew of new updates to its Luna ring including an AI-powered coach.
The ring features include skin temperature sensors, a 3-axis accelerometer, and infrared photoplethysmography (PPG) sensors to carry out its health monitoring functions.
