NeuroFlow has acquired the proprietary behavioral health analytics model developed by Intermountain Health, a leading health system based in Salt Lake City.
The acquisition integrates the clinically validated model into NeuroFlow’s platform, enhancing its existing analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.
This deal aims to enable the broader deployment of risk assessment models designed to improve care and support more targeted decision-making in behavioral health.
The predictive complexity algorithm, first developed in-house at Intermountain and refined over the past decade, uses a combination of data variables to identify relationships that guide risk decision-making and inform treatment options. The model supports tracking and assessing patient condition changes, ensuring that interventions remain effective over time.
Tammer Attallah, LCSW, the Behavioral Health Clinical Program Executive Director at Intermountain Health, emphasized the model’s significance, saying, “In primary care, there are many interdependent factors to consider when identifying mental and physical health and social care needs. The creation of our standardized workflow assesses the complexity of these variables and offers shared decision support that identifies targeted, evidence-based physical, mental health, and social resources.”
The model integrates data from various sources, including patient self-reporting, disease registries, electronic health records, and claims. By combining these data sources, it not only stratifies risk but also provides a more contextualized and integrated approach to care.
This comprehensive view supports the delivery of higher-quality healthcare by improving the coordination between physical and behavioral health needs.
NeuroFlow notes the challenge of integrating disparate data points within behavioral healthcare, often leading to fragmented patient-provider engagement.
Patients are frequently burdened with numerous screening tools, and providers struggle to piece together relevant information, which hinders shared decision-making. The integration of Intermountain’s model into NeuroFlow’s platform is designed to streamline these processes by offering more reliable and relevant data.
NeuroFlow’s recent acquisition follows a strategic collaboration with Intermountain, announced earlier in 2024. The two organizations plan to continue working together to innovate the risk complexity model further.
NeuroFlow, which also acquired Owl, a behavioral health assessment company, earlier this year, aims to expand the enhanced model's reach to other clients later in 2025.
