Currently, Nephrocare has three kidney care clinics in the country, apart from a flagship unit in Kolkata. It is further looking to unveil three more centres at Shyambazar, Chandannagar and North Bengal.

Furthermore, it also plans to enter Chattisgarh by setting up a centre in Raipur by March 2024 at an estimated investment of around INR 12 Cr. This move aligns with the company's vision of setting up 300 such centres across the country in the next 10-15 years.

Sharing his views, Somnath Chakraborty, CEO, Nephrocare India, said, ‘’Nearly 2.5 Lakh new patients in India are annually added to the pool of dialysis requiring patients due to advanced kidney failure who are in desperate need of getting access to specialised renal care clinics. As you can see there is a huge gap between the demand and supply of kidney care units in India. We are looking to expand our presence across the country to address the gap by adopting the hub and spoke model."

Founded in 2014, Dr Pratim Sengupta, Nephrocare is a provider of comprehensive kidney care, It is part of Fresenius Medical Care, a global leader in products and services for patients with chronic kidney failure. Nephrocare aims to provide holistic care for all kidney-related ailments, using the latest technology for scientific data-keeping and monitoring.

In a similar development, Tata Capital led $10 million in funding to Mumbai-based Apex Kidney Care. Reportedly, about 90% of the funding was allocated for the expansion of AKC, while the remaining 10% served as an exit opportunity for certain angel investors. With this newly infused capital, AKC sought to expand its dialysis network to 300 centres across India in the next 18- 24 months. Out of these, about 50-60 dialysis centres will operate as standalone centres.

According to estimates, India's dialysis market is projected to grow from $2.113 billion in 2022 to $4.368 billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of 9.50% during the forecast period of 2022 to 2030.
