The system, complemented by the HyperArc stereotactic radiosurgery solution, promises to deliver more precise and efficient treatment for cancer patients across Western India.

Nanavati Max Hospital, Mumbai, has enhanced its cancer treatment capabilities by introducing the EDGE radiosurgery system, one of India's most advanced cancer treatment technologies.

The system, complemented by the HyperArc stereotactic radiosurgery solution, aims to deliver more precise and efficient treatment for cancer patients across Western India.

Commenting on the development, Abhay Soi, chairman and managing director of Max Healthcare, said, "At Max Healthcare, we aim to be at the forefront of medical technology. Introducing the EDGE HyperArc system at Nanavati Max will further strengthen our cancer treatment offerings, complementing our existing Halcyon machine and allowing us to treat a broader range of cancers more precisely."

Key Benefits of the EDGE HyperArc System

EDGE and HyperArc are particularly efficient in treating multiple tumors simultaneously, targeting them from a single point, known as a “single isocentre.” This feature minimizes the need for manual adjustments during treatment, enhancing precision and reducing the time patients spend under treatment.

The EDGE system’s precision and efficiency significantly enhance the patient experience by reducing the duration of treatment and side effects. The HyperArc’s ability to treat multiple tumors in a single session, paired with its advanced planning algorithms, reduces radiation exposure to healthy tissues.

This approach minimizes the risk of complications and improves long-term outcomes for cancer patients.

Dr Kaustav Talapatra, the hospital's director of radiation oncology, explained the new system's benefits, saying, “EDGE with HyperArc technology allows us to perform radiosurgery with specialized algorithms that optimize dose distribution while sparing healthy tissues. This system enables us to treat multiple tumors simultaneously faster and more accurately, improving patient outcomes.”

While the EDGE HyperArc system's treatment cost may be higher than conventional machines, the benefits—fewer appointments, quicker treatments, and better outcomes—make it a valuable option for patients seeking comprehensive cancer care.
