Mumbai-based Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital has launched an Arthrex Modular Glenoid System (AMGS) with VIP (Virtual Implant Positioning), for shoulder replacement surgery in India.
According to the hospital, the latest shoulder replacement technology offers better outcomes for countless individuals suffering from shoulder joint problems.
Sharing thoughts, Dr Santosh Shetty, CEO & executive director, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai said, "This technology has the potential to revolutionize shoulder replacement surgery and significantly improve the lives of countless individuals suffering from shoulder joint problems."
The latest technology was unveiled at ArthoShoulder 2024. This event was organized by Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, in collaboration with the Bombay Orthopaedic Society, the Indian Arthroscopy Society, and the Shoulder and Elbow Society of India.
The Arthrex Modular Glenoid System (AMGS) with VIP creates a virtual shoulder model that offers precision customized to each patient. This approach reduces complications and promotes faster recovery with minimal invasiveness.
Additionally, this innovation was highlighted with a live demonstration of a Reverse Total Shoulder Replacement utilizing the VIP system.
Dr Shreyash Gajjar who performed the first surgery using the system, shared his experience saying, "The Arthrex Modular Glenoid System with VIP is a paradigm shift in shoulder arthroplasty. It empowers surgeons with the tools to achieve precise accuracy and customization, leading to superior outcomes for our patients."
Shoulder replacement surgery is a treatment designed to alleviate discomfort and restore functionality in individuals suffering from significant shoulder joint problems such as arthritis or injury.
Conventional techniques often have difficulties with accurate implant positioning and adjusting to each patient’s distinct anatomy.
According to the Mumbai hospital, the Arthrex Modular Glenoid System with VIP tackles these issues with advanced tech and careful planning.
