With access to such comprehensive data, Monash researchers can develop AI models to identify patterns and improve predictive capabilities in patient care.
Monash University’s Faculty of Information Technology (IT) has entered a strategic partnership with Apollo Hospitals to advance digital health research and solutions across India and Australia.
The recently signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) focuses on leveraging data and technology to drive healthcare innovation and improve patient outcomes.
According to a press release, this collaboration grants Monash IT access to de-identified health data from Apollo’s extensive database of over 200 million patients.
This data will facilitate pioneering research in artificial intelligence (AI) aimed at enhancing disease diagnosis and treatment, particularly for critical conditions such as cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.
With access to such comprehensive data, Monash researchers can develop AI models to identify patterns and improve predictive capabilities in patient care.
Beyond data sharing, the partnership includes educational initiatives. Monash IT will conduct training sessions for Apollo’s healthcare professionals, enhancing their knowledge of digital health applications.
Additionally, Monash students will engage with Apollo Hospitals through real-world projects, gaining practical experience in healthcare settings.
Chris Bain, Monash IT’s digital health lead, highlighted the potential of this collaboration, noting plans to implement digital health projects in Australia and explore Apollo’s clinical AI applications locally.
Sujoy Kar, Director of Medical Services at Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals, Kolkata, emphasized the partnership’s impact on bringing clinical AI research to practical use in healthcare, supporting global efforts to address major health issues.
In another recent development, Apollo Hospitals announced a substantial investment of INR 1,625 Cr, targeting two high-demand locations—Mumbai and Lucknow. The four-year expansion plan aims to enhance healthcare infrastructure in these regions to meet growing patient needs.
