California-based Merago Inc, a healthcare and financial technology company, has partnered with Bengaluru-based healthcare platform Portea Medical, to extend home healthcare services in India.
This collaboration aims to offer a broader range of at-home healthcare services to Indian residents.
Merago Inc recently launched the Merago Digital Healthcare Network, providing consumers with a tool to manage their health effectively. This partnership deal with Portea Medical also helps Merago to expand its service offerings.
Rashmee Narayan, the chief operating officer of Merago Inc., said that the company is going beyond teleconsultations. They recognise that consumers are looking for accessible health management tools.
Merago's commitment is to provide a comprehensive range of personal healthcare services, including urgent care, second opinion, post-operative care, and home healthcare services through their partnership with Portea.
Vaibhav Tewari, the cofounder and CEO of Portea Medical, highlighted Merago' integrated health management and its alignment with its objectives. Together, they aspire to enhance the continuum of care, making holistic and affordable medical services a reality for all patients.
Portea Medical, founded in 2013 in Bengaluru, specialises in tech-enabled patient-centric solutions, particularly outside the traditional hospital settings. They offer at-home chemotherapy and dialysis services as well.
As per Portea's website, it has served over 10,00,000 patients across 40 Indian cities and noted the increasing demand for out-of-hospital healthcare options.
The synergy between global and Indian healthtech enablers/companies has been looking interesting lately. In September, we saw a significant move as global financial powerhouse Morgan Stanley acquired a majority stake in Gurugram-based ClearMedi Healthcare.
This strategic acquisition marks Morgan Stanley's entry into the Indian healthcare sector. ClearMedi Healthcare operates a chain of oncology hospitals and radiation therapy centres.
Further, in August, US-based Drs On Calls introduced an innovative '˜International Second Opinion Service for Indian Patients.' This service, accessible through a user-friendly application, empowers patients to conveniently schedule virtual appointments with diverse international specialists spanning various medical fields.
