India Medtronic, a subsidiary of the global healthcare giant Medtronic, has recently appointed Mandeep Singh Kumar as its new VP & MD of its India operations.
Kumar succeeds Michael Blackwell, who has returned to the United States to pursue fresh endeavors.
Per the company, Kumar has experience spanning over 25 years in driving successful growth and business transformations across healthcare, pharmaceutical, and med-tech sectors.
“His expertise includes strategy development, ensuring successful execution, driving commercial excellence, and building winning teams across the globe,” the company stated.
Before joining Medtronic, Kumar was the country leader at Intuitive India, where he expanded patient access and developed a comprehensive ecosystem for robotic-assisted surgery.
In his new role, Kumar will oversee sales, marketing, and commercial operations for Medtronic in India.

In other news, Medtronic Cranial & Spinal Technologies (CST), a subsidiary of Medtronic, has recently made several appointments.
These include Erin McEachren as VP and GM of enabling technologies, and Vignesh Shetty as the new VP of AI & Software.
Shetty will be responsible for driving advancements in AI and software solutions within the organization. His expertise will contribute to improving patient care, optimizing surgical workflows, and enhancing CST’s product offerings.
Erin’s role, on the other hand, involves overseeing and leading initiatives related to technologies that enable spinal and cranial procedures.
Enabling technologies may include surgical navigation systems, imaging solutions, and other innovations that enhance patient outcomes and surgical precision.
In April, Medtronic India launched the NeuroSmart Portable Micro Electrode Recording (MER) Navigation system, which seeks to revolutionize the treatment of Parkinson's disease through Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS).
This technology aims to enhance precision during surgery, offering new hope for patients suffering from the debilitating symptoms of Parkinson's disease.
Last year, Medtronic India collaborated with Qure.ai to integrate AI for advanced stroke management. This partnership aimed to provide comprehensive stroke care solutions, leveraging Medtronic's neuroscience expertise and Qure.ai's AI-enabled innovations.
In a similar development, Ludhiana’s Christian Medical College (CMC) Hospital joined hands with Medtronic to introduce Qure.ai’s AI-powered advanced stroke care solution.
This advanced technology analyzes brain scans with efficient speed, aiding doctors in identifying stroke-related issues promptly. With this initiative, CMC Hospital plans to expand the use of this technology to more hospitals in Punjab.
