Medicover Hospital Introduces Robotic Knee & Hip Replacement in Navi Mumbai

Medicover Hospital seeks to improve surgical precision and recovery outcomes for knee and hip replacement patients in Navi Mumbai and surrounding areas.

Medicover Hospital, Navi Mumbai, has introduced the MISSO robotic knee and hip replacement system.

The move aims to improve precision, reduce recovery time, and minimize post-surgical discomfort for patients undergoing joint replacement procedures.

In a recent procedure, the hospital conducted its first robotic total knee replacement on a 76-year-old woman with severe arthritis. The patient was able to walk two hours after surgery, demonstrating the system’s ability to support early mobility.

Sharing thoughts, Dr Deepak Gautam, Director of Orthopedics at Medicover Hospital, said, "We are seeing a higher number of younger patients suffering from knee and hip-related issues. Traditional surgeries take longer to recover. The MISSO robotic system provides exceptional accuracy, reduces hospital stays, minimizes blood loss, lowers infection risks, and ensures faster recovery."

Dr Nikhil, Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon, noted the impact on local patients. "This will be beneficial for Navi Mumbaikars, providing access to robotic-assisted surgery. With reduced hospital stays, patients can return to their normal routine sooner and experience less pain with improved mobility post-surgery."

The MISSO Ortho Surgical Robot incorporates 3D imaging, aiding in implant positioning and soft tissue preservation. Dr Mataprasad Gupta, Centre Head, explained its role in improving surgical outcomes.

"By introducing this system, we aim to reduce complications, support faster healing, and help patients regain mobility more quickly," Dr. Gupta added.

The newly appointed Neeraj Lal, Regional Director for Maharashtra, reiterated the hospital’s focus on technology-driven patient care. "At Medicover, we continue to bring advancements that enhance patient safety and comfort."
