This new technology marks a significant advancement in the hospital's capabilities, making it the first in the region to offer robotic hip replacement surgeries.
Max Super Speciality Hospital, Dehradun, has expanded its Robotic Surgical Programme by introducing a cutting-edge robotic system designed for joint replacement surgeries.
This new technology marks a significant advancement in the hospital's capabilities, making it the first in the region to offer robotic hip replacement surgeries.
The newly launched Mako Surgical Robot offers precision in joint replacement procedures. This system supports surgeons by providing advanced tools that help preserve natural bone, reduce blood loss, and ensure a well-balanced joint post-surgery.
The robotic technology enables the surgeon to pre-plan each surgery with high accuracy, taking into account the specific condition of the patient's joint and predicting stability across a full range of motion.
The precision offered by the robotic system significantly reduces the risk of implant misalignment, a common challenge in conventional joint replacement surgeries.
"We are thrilled to launch the Mako Robotic Surgical System at Max Hospital in Dehradun for joint surgeries. Our commitment to providing the best possible care is unwavering, and this launch underscores our dedication to improving patient outcomes and setting new standards in medical excellence," said Dr Sandeep Singh Tanwar, Sr VP–operations and unit head, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Dehradun.
Robotic joint surgery presents numerous advantages over traditional joint replacement methods.
The key benefits include minimal incisions, enhanced accuracy, quicker recovery times, and shorter hospital stays. These advantages stem from the system’s ability to allow surgeons to perform minimally invasive procedures with a high degree of control and precision.
Surgeons operate the robotic system through a console, which utilizes a high-resolution 3D vision system. This system provides a detailed view of the anatomical structures, allowing the surgeon to navigate the surgery with enhanced clarity.
The technology has proven effective in treating various complex joint conditions, offering patients a higher likelihood of successful outcomes and faster recovery.
In his statement, Dr Ashish Mittal expressed his enthusiasm for the new technology, noting that it represents a significant advancement in surgical care. "Introducing the Mako Robotic System is a major step forward for our regional hospital and patient care. This technology allows us to perform surgeries with greater precision and less impact on the patient's body, translating into quicker recovery times and better outcomes."
Integrating this robotic system is part of Max Hospital's broader effort to enhance its surgical capabilities and provide patients access to the latest medical technologies. The hospital focuses on improving patient care through innovation and the adoption of advanced medical tools.
