Marengo Asia Hospitals, Gurugram, has appointed Dr Pooja Wadwa as the Clinical Director of Critical Care Medicine and ECMO Specialist.

With over 12 years of experience in critical care, Dr Wadwa’s addition aims to elevate the hospital’s capabilities in advanced critical care, particularly ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) for patients with severe heart and lung conditions.

Dr Wadwa’s background includes a significant tenure at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, where she was instrumental in raising standards for critical care services.

She brings expertise in ECMO, a life-support system used in heart and lung failure cases, which is expected to benefit Marengo’s expanding critical care unit. Her role will focus on strengthening the hospital’s critical care framework, primarily through the integration of digital ICU technologies.

Advancing Critical Care Through Digital Innovation

One of Dr Wadwa’s primary objectives in her new role will be implementing digital ICU technologies. This innovation involves advanced sensors and remote monitoring systems that provide continuous, real-time data on patients’ conditions, creating a 360-degree view of critical care patients.

The digital ICU system is expected to improve the speed and precision of medical interventions, enhancing outcomes for those in intensive care.

“I am honored to join Marengo Asia Hospitals, an institution known for its patient-centric care and technological leadership. I look forward to contributing my expertise to further strengthen its critical care services, with a special focus on ECMO, which is a lifeline for patients with life-threatening heart and lung conditions,” Dr Wadwa stated.

This digital initiative aims to streamline critical care processes, making them more responsive through enhanced data analytics and telemedicine.

The approach will enable Dr Wadwa and her team to monitor patients and respond more quickly to emergencies closely, ensuring that the highest safety standards are maintained.

Experienced Leader in ECMO & Critical Care

Throughout her career, Dr Wadwa has spearheaded numerous advancements in critical care. She has led initiatives to improve survival rates and patient outcomes, focusing on ECMO protocols. Her expertise is recognized nationwide, as she has developed treatment protocols that have set a standard for critical care in India.

Under her leadership, Marengo’s critical care unit is anticipated to broaden its focus, integrating the latest advancements in medicine while mentoring upcoming professionals in the field.

Her extensive experience in ECMO positions her as a critical figure in Marengo Asia Hospitals’ commitment to improving healthcare standards, especially for critically ill patients.

Her leadership is set to drive forward the hospital’s initiatives in critical care and technology integration, contributing to a modernized and effective healthcare delivery system.
