The Lilavati Hospital Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Assam to establish a 250-bed super specialty hospital in Guwahati. Announced during the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit, the project entails an estimated investment of INR 300 crore and aims to bolster healthcare services in the region, particularly in oncology and cardiology.
The proposed hospital will integrate robotic technology and will be staffed by specialized medical professionals, catering to both domestic and international patients. Assam’s geographical position, bordering Bhutan and Bangladesh, positions the hospital as a key center for medical tourism in the Northeast.
Speaking about the project, Prashant Mehta stated, "This project is a testament to our dedication to expanding access to quality healthcare. Assam’s strategic location and the strong support from the state government make it an ideal hub for medical tourism and specialized medical services."
The initiative has received backing from the Assam government, with officials, including the Chief Minister and Health Minister, supporting efforts to enhance the state's healthcare infrastructure. The hospital is expected to be completed within the next two to three years, further strengthening critical care capabilities in the region.
