KIMS Hospitals has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Intuitive, a US-based biotechnology company, to launch 25 robotic-assisted surgery systems across India.
These systems, featuring Da Vinci robotic technology, will be deployed in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Kerala, with a particular focus on Tier II and Tier III cities.
The robotic-assisted surgery systems will be installed in locations including Secunderabad, Begumpet, Kondapur, Gachibowli, Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Rajahmundry, Ongole, Kurnool, Nellore, Anantapur, Nagpur, Nashik, Thane, Bengaluru, and Kannur in Kerala.
This initiative is part of KIMS Hospitals' strategy to expand access to advanced surgical care across smaller cities.
Dr Bollineni Bhaskar Rao, Chairman and Managing Director of KIMS Hospitals, highlighted the goal of improving patient care by introducing robotic-assisted surgery to underserved regions.
The partnership with Intuitive will provide surgeons and care teams with technology training, customer service, and ongoing support, ensuring effective implementation of the robotic systems.
Last month, Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) announced its expansion into Kerala through a strategic agreement with Sree Chand Specialty Hospital, Kannur.
KIMS has entered into a long-term lease and operations management agreement with Sree Chand Specialty Hospital through its subsidiary, KIMS Swastha.
This agreement aims to transform the hospital into KIMS Sreechand Specialty Hospital, with plans to upgrade the existing infrastructure.
Established in 2020, Sree Chand Specialty Hospital currently has 189 beds, six operating theaters, and one Cath lab. Under the new arrangement, the hospital will expand to a 350-bed quaternary care facility.
The transformation will include advanced technology and services in key areas such as transplants, robotic surgeries, and comprehensive cancer care.
Further, this year, KIMS Hospitals in Kondapur introduced the 'Enhanced Patient Safety with Smart Wards' program, aiming to leverage technology for heightened patient care.
As per the hospital, about 25% of the hospital's beds now feature Dozee's AI-based Contactless Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) and Early Warning System (EWS) to elevate patient safety and care standards.
