The new partnership is expected to bring higher-quality medical services and advanced healthcare infrastructure to the region.

Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) has announced its expansion into Kerala through a strategic agreement with Sree Chand Specialty Hospital, Kannur.

This move marks a significant development for KIMS, a well-known healthcare provider in Southern India.

The new partnership is expected to bring higher-quality medical services and advanced healthcare infrastructure to the region.

The Partnership Deal

KIMS has entered into a long-term lease and operations management agreement with Sree Chand Specialty Hospital through its subsidiary, KIMS Swastha.

This agreement will transform the hospital into KIMS Sreechand Specialty Hospital, with plans to upgrade the existing infrastructure.

Established in 2020, Sree Chand Specialty Hospital currently has 189 beds, six operating theaters, and one cath lab. Under the new arrangement, the hospital will expand to a 350-bed quaternary care facility.

The transformation will include advanced technology and services in key areas such as transplants, robotic surgeries, and comprehensive cancer care. The hospital will become a state-of-the-art facility equipped to meet the growing healthcare needs of the Kannur region and beyond.

Strategic Appointments

Additionally, KIMS has appointed Arjun Vijayakumar as the Regional Finance Head for Kerala Operations to manage its new operations in Kerala.

Vijayakumar previously held the Head of Finance Functions role at Aster Hospitals in Kerala, and his experience is expected to bring valuable insights to the group's Kerala expansion.

The group will also introduce renowned clinicians and management experts to support the hospital's upgraded services.

Commenting on the same, Dr Abhinay Bollineni, director and CEO of KIMS Hospitals, said, “We are thrilled to introduce KIMS Hospitals' high standard of care to Kerala. This enhancement at the Sree Chand facility marks the beginning of our broader expansion plans across the state, following the preferred Asset Light model.”

The collaboration with Sree Chand Specialty Hospital is seen as a strategic step in KIMS' vision to strengthen its presence in Kerala.

On the other side of the partnership, Anup Kallalathil, Director of Sree Chand Hospital, shared his thoughts on the collaboration.

“We are delighted to partner with a renowned group like KIMS. This collaboration will undoubtedly elevate the quality of care and services provided to patients,” said Kallalathil.

This move is also part of KIMS’ broader plan to expand its footprint across Kerala, aligning with its asset-light growth model, which focuses on optimizing healthcare services without significant capital expenditure.
