Kerala has been actively working to curb the sale and consumption of unauthorized medicines.
As part of "Operation Body Beauty," the State Drug Control Department recently conducted special inspections in 50 gyms across Kerala to identify illegal steroid usage. Authorities seized medicines worth approximately INR 1.5 lakh during the operation.
George stated that the seized drugs were not procured from authorized medical stores but purchased online, raising concerns over regulatory loopholes.
She emphasized that such drugs should only be sold by licensed pharmacies and used strictly under a doctor's prescription.
Legal action is being taken against gyms found in violation of drug regulations.
Additionally, the Drug Control Department has decided to intensify inspections and launch awareness programs to educate young people on the serious health risks associated with anabolic steroid misuse.
